COURSE TITLE

Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities

SCOPE

The course covers personal safety on board, accident prevention, what to do in an emergency, employment conditions and general working environment on board merchant vessels.  The course is a component of the Basic Safety Training*.

Who would benefit?

This course is recommended for any individual who intends to pursue a career at sea or offshore.

DURATION & DELIVERY

The duration of this course is two (2) days. Classes are from 8:00am to 4:00pm. A combination of lectures sessions and presentations are used to deliver this course.

OBJECTIVE

In this course you will learn to deal with the social aspect of life on board a vessel, living in close quarters with persons of different ethnicity, backgrounds, and behavioural patterns. You will also learn about the effects of drug and alcohol abuse.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to read and write
  • Must have been the recipient of courses in Personal Survival Techniques, Basic Fire Fighting and First Aid

COURSE CERTIFICATE

The certificate issued on completion of training attests to the fact that the participant has been present at all theoretical and practical sessions and has been successful in the evaluation exercises, in particular his ability to execute correctly the practical aspects of training.
