COURSE TITLE

Personal Survival Techniques (Basic)

SCOPE

The course covers basic survival principles and techniques, practical use of life rafts and what to do in an emergency.  The course is a component of the Basic Safety Training*.

Who would benefit?

This course is recommended for any individual who intends to pursue a career at sea or offshore.

DURATION & DELIVERY

The duration of this course is two (2) days. Classes are from 8:00am to 4:00pm. A combination of lectures sessions, demonstrations and videos are used to deliver this course. Training and instruction is done by qualified personnel of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.

OBJECTIVE

In this course you will be trained to react positively and with confidence in any emergency situation that may endanger your personal safety or the safety of others. You will also be able to contribute to your own survival or the survival of others by adopting the correct methods of survival. In addition you will learn to identify sources of danger and institute corrective measures.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be medically fit with good eyesight (backed by a medical report and eye test)**
  • Must be able to read and write
  • 2 passport sized pictures

COURSE CERTIFICATE

The certificate issued on completion of training attests to the fact that the participant has been present at all theoretical and practical sessions and has been successful in the evaluation exercises, in particular his ability to execute correctly the practical aspects of training.
