Proficiency in Survival Craft
The aim of this course is to provide training in launching arrangements for survival craft, safe operation procedures, survival management, and search and rescue procedures.
Who would benefit?
This course is recommended for officers and seafaring personnel who are responsible for launching or handling survival craft.
DURATION & DELIVERY
The duration of this course is five (5) days. Classes are from 8:00am to 4:00pm. A combination of lectures and hands-on demonstrations are used to deliver this course.
In this course you will learn how to handle the preparation, embarkation and launching of survival craft. You will also be trained to manage a boat under sail, or motor and will gain the knowledge which will enable you to correctly use survival equipment for the protection of those under your charge.
This course consists of advanced modules in the following areas:
- Medical First Aid
- Personal Survival Techniques
- Must be medically fit
- Must have completed the Basic Safety Training programme (Seaman Class IV).
- A minimum of 18 months sea-time on an internationally sailing vessel or such equivalent in local sea-time as designated by the Maritime Administration.
Upon successful completion of the course through written and practical examinations, candidates will receive a Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft in accordance with Section A-V1/1 of the STCW 95 Code.
This course provides the skills necessary for all mariners to safely operate a vessel up to 24metres in coastal waters(with no passengers) and up to 12 metres (with passengers) in Coastal Waters.
