Q: What are the basic entry requirements?

A: For all courses you must be at least 17 years of age and have basic literacy (English). For the Maritime courses you must obtain a basic medical.

 

Q: Do I have to be a national of Trinidad and Tobago?

No. Once you meet the basic requirements for entry you will be able to qualify.

 

Q: How can I apply to take courses at CFTDI?

A: You can either apply online or come in to CFTDI for info.

 

Q: How do I register?

A: After being accepted, you then need to come into to CFTDI with two (2) forms of valid ID (passport, national identification card, or driver’s permit) and a completed seafarer’s medical. You must also have basic literacy (English).

 

Q: How much does it cost to register?

A: Registration is free.

 

Q: How much will it cost me to take courses at CFTDI?

A: Basic courses start from $400 and advanced courses can cost up to $4,600.

 

Q: Do you offer accommodation for students?

A: Yes, we offer accommodation for male students only.

Shared occupancy is $325 per week or part thereof.

Single occupancy is $400 per week or part thereof.

 

Q: Are there any shuttle services available before and after classes?

A: There are shuttle services available during the lunch break to take students to and from classroom to cafeteria.

There are also shuttle services available in the morning before class begins to take students from their living accommodations to class and at the end of classes to take students back to their living accommodations.

Shuttle services are also provided for field trips.

Students living off campus are responsible for getting themselves to the campus on mornings and back home after classes.

 

Q: Is there parking available for students on the campus?

A: Yes.

 

Q: Can CFTDI help me find a job?

A: From time to time employees may call and ask for recommendations.
