Seafood Technology Unit
The Seafood technology is a growing sector, that involves the scientific study of seafood, its handling, processing, preservation, packaging, and distribution. Under the auspices of the Regional Fisheries Training Project; the Seafood Technology Unit collaborated with the Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) to transfer seafood technology knowledge to develop the fishing industry locally and regionally.

Maritime Unit
The maritime industry provides sustainable employment opportunities for those seeking careers in merchant shipping. CFTDI is one of the region's key providers of maritime training in the Caribbean.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution by ships. Permission is granted to CFTDI for the approval of courses Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW as amended) by The Ministry of Works and Transport, Maritime Services Division.
STCW courses provided by CFTDI are; Basic Training, Basic Training Revalidation, Proficiency in Survival Craft, Proficiency in Survival Craft Revalidation, Medical First Aid, Medical First Aid Revalidation, Basic Fire Fighting, Basic Fire Fighting Revalidation, Advanced Fire Fighting, Advanced Fire Fighting Revalidation, Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch, Oil/ Gas Chemical Tanker Safety, Coastal Navigation ( Vessels up to 500 GRT), Boatmaster III & Boatmaster II, Outboard Motor Maintenance & Repairs, Security Awareness with/without Designated Duties, Emergency Crowd Control Onboard Passenger Vessel and Proficiency in Crisis Management and Human Behaviour.
